Unfortunately, due to the recent outbreaks of Bluetongue and cases moving closer to our area, we have had to make the very difficult decision to cancel the Sheep Section at this weekend’s Bellingham Show.

This has not been an easy decision, especially after receiving a record number of sheep entries this year. However, following veterinary advice and guidance, we feel that cancelling the section is the safest and most responsible decision for everyone.

All sheep judges and exhibitors have been contacted by email, so please check your inboxes for further information.

A huge thank you to everyone who entered and supported the Sheep Section this year. We are incredibly disappointed, but don’t worry — the sheep will be back in 2027!

The rest of Bellingham Show is going ahead as planned, with plenty happening right across the showfield!

The theme for the show in 2026 will be, Celebrating 100 years of forestry.

Kielder Forest will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026. Planting began in 1926, to provide timber for the nation, after concerns about depleted timber stocks. The 140,000-acre forest is England's largest man-made forest, spanning North Northumberland and a part of Cumbria. Also within the forest, between 1975 and 1981, a large section of the land was cleared and flooded, to create Kielder Water.
